Ken cut me from the basketball team at Cap College back in 1992. I came into his office and asked for a second chance. He said yes. I will never forgot his compassion and generosity for giving me a second chance. RIP. 🙏🏼

I met Ken in his “under the stairs” office in the business center called 300 1497 Marine Drive in 1985; he was a new Notary and I was a new lawyer; he was always helping friends and clients with valuable advice and actions, such as inspiring me to adopt early computerization of my law practice which sustained my practice over 35 years; Quirky things like, I remember Ken still using his original keyboard until recently and occasionally importing unique items such as talking toy frogs; we struggled through the ups and downs inherent for sole practitioners, building our respective businesses; we went back and forth between our offices involving witnessing documents, taking affidavits and providing independent legal advice for respective clients, Ken pretty well forced me to purchase my strata lot in our building, a great move for creating consistency in location and also setting up a later potential for a retirement asset (which certainly worked for both of us).  We, together with Howard’s Paints, were the only surviving businesses at 1497 Marine Drive from 1985 at the time of Ken’s passing;  I feel the loss of Ken every day as I continue go to my office.  His leadership in the world of notary public is well known and inspired his son, Cameron, to take up the practice.  A nice legacy.  I am saddened that I was unable to attend his memorial and that I waited so long to post my expression of appreciation for Ken's life and my grief arising from his passing.   

We had some fun times when we were around 7 years old and it was some of the funnest times ive ever had with someone except for the time he pushed me out of the tree. 

Received this news a couple of weeks ago from a mutual friend.   Shocked and saddened.  Best wishes to Marj and kids and the entire Sherk family (Ron, Marie, Kim, Glen and Karen).

When my family moved to NVan Ken and I  became good friends through the high school years at Handsworth (class of '73) beginning in the last half of my grade 8.  The backyards of our parents homes joined and there were many trips back and forth through the hedge visiting.  Ken had a tropical fish aquarium in his room which spawned (no pun intended) my interest in the same for a few years.  I remember early one morning in particular when our phone rang, it was Kenny saying "get over here, the guppies are having babies".   We spent time hanging out, tossing baseballs and footballs, listening to music in the basements, riding with the Handsworth Cycling Club and going on outings with our friends Darell and Barb. 

Time, hobbies,  relocations, further education, vocations, personal lives and the years have flown by .  I last saw Ken (and met Marj) at a dinner party with mutual friends sometime in the early '90s.  I remember Ken having us in stitches for much of the evening.  

Gone but not forgotten Ken.  





Thank you Ken for all your many acts of kindness to me over the past several years -It was always a pleasure to meet with you as you assisted the family with matters related to estate planning. I was especially grateful for the many times you visited Mom and Dad during their years spent in 2 retirement homes on the north shore and for the many occasions you chauffeured me to and from various appointments on their behalf during my various visits to B.C.
I  have fond memories of the time spent with you and Marj at your home and of the delightful evening we all had over dinner in West Van .
May your family receive strength as they journey forward together in the time ahead.

I was shocked to hear about Ken's  passing.  My sincerest condolences to his family.
Ken was a student of mine at Handsworth and we kept in touch since then. We often reminisced about a student trip we took to Mexico back in the early 70s. 
Ken will be sorely missed by the North Shore community. RIP Ken 

So sorry to read of Ken's passing, peacefully but far too young .
I knew Ken through my job during the early Banking days of 
SDRRSP mortgage lending through his Notary Public career
and he was always a pleasure to deal with and talk to.

I want to extend my condolences to Ken's family.  Although I didn't know Ken very long, I will always remember him with great fondness from when he coached the Sentinel Secondary senior boys basketball team in 1983. I wasn't a player, but I was a cheerleader for the team.  Ken's passion for the game, and how he inspired and encouraged his players resonated with me.  He had a way with the young people he coached, so as not to elevate himself but to always lift up others. He was always there for his players (and us girls too) on and off the court.  I remember his inclusive kindness and the great respect that his players had for him.  His ethics helped build a beyond phenomenal team, but more importantly, his caring influence helped build confidence and self-esteem for many youths of the time. 

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Ken’s sudden passing. We, like many others,  will miss his professional yet personal touch when  dealing with our official matters.

So sad to learn this news.  Ken  helped us out with urgent notary business many times.  The most recent occasion was only a few weeks ago.  Very sorry to hear of his passing.

My sincerest condolences to Marjorie, Cameron and Derek. 
I knew of Ken back in the day when he played for Sentinel alongside his good friend "Digger" Leigh.
I got to know Ken well when he and Marjorie enrolled Cameron and Derek into Holy Trinity. Subsequently, Ken did a lot of notary work for my wife, Sharon and I. He then stepped to the plate when the Education Committee needed someone to fill the roll of Finance which Ken did so well for a number of years. Ken and I also coached the STA  SR. Basketball team for 2 years working together. Some phrases to describe Ken as I knew him; a great Dad who loved his family immensely, honorable, hard working, kind, generous, patient,  a doer rather than a taker and finally a very passionate lover of the game of Basketball.  Ken Sherk will be greatly missed.

So saddened when hearing the news about Ken.  
  What a great high school buddy and family friend you were, Ken!  
Memories are flooding back:  playing baseball at Eldon Park… shooting hoops in Handsworth gym… down in your rec room playing loud music on your “Quadraphonic” stereo…developing B&W photos in your darkroom...  riding in your MG to the Okanagan on May long…and simply hanging out together… great memories I'll cherish!!
 I hear this happened at Shuswap... the place he loved.  I'm sure if you had to choose a beautiful place, this would be it.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Ken's passing -- we were high school classmates and at Handsworth, he was smart, popular, good-humoured, and a budding athlete, friendly to everyone. He studied photography for awhile, and tried substitute teaching which is where our paths crossed again. Then he began his professional life as a notary, his office across the street from my apartment, which is where we met again, the great guy, I'd remembered him from school. My best to his family.
