MEREDITH, Marilyn Joan (McRAE) February 11, 1930 - September 24, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce Marilyn's death in Lion's Gate Hospital. Her husband Doug, sons David (Patty), and Scott (Nina) and her much loved granddaughters Morgan and Brynn and twin grandsons Tomas and Max and family friends were at her bedside. Marilyn is also survived by her aunt, Dorothy Osborne of Vancouver but was predeceased by her sister Pat and her brother Rod. Marilyn was born in Vancouver as a fifth generation Canadian. She attended Lord Byng High school and U.B.C. then rounded it all off with a three year working and travelling tour of Europe and N. Africa. On return to Vancouver she began a career in the modelling and fashion business ending as a senior New York buyer for the French Room. Marilyn and Doug were married in 1960 in Vancouver and soon left for Nigeria where Doug was involved with a three year survey \ mapping project. Her son David was delivered here by an African mid-wife who during that day's shift, delivered a total of 15 babies! Her second son Scott was born in Vancouver in 1965. Marilyn was a good athlete both in the water and especially on the tennis court. This honed her competitive nature and in her early `50s she began what was to become a very successful career in real estate mostly on Vancouver's North shore. She knew Vancouver well and her tireless, inquisitive, and intelligent personality along with the nurturing of her home and family kept her happily occupied until the end. She was truly a one off lady with style, intelligence and humour and will be missed by many. A Celebration of Life ceremony to honour Marilyn will be held at the West Vancouver Yacht Club on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, between 1:00 and 3:30 P.M.
