Dear Sally, Lee, Shannon and families:

We are very saddened by the news of Peter's passing. My Dad still remembers well when he first met Peter who came from Germany soon after he did. They had many adventures together. There were many weekends that they would go out to the Forstbauer dairy farm in Abbotsford and socialize with others in the German community. Peter, my Dad and Henry Forstbauer would go on 3-day long trail horse rides. He was a very good friend, and he will be very much missed.

Sally and Family, 
I was saddened to here of Peter's passing. During our many years of working together, I always consider him as a friend and a great person. We enjoyed many great adventures together, during our 30 years at the shipyard.
He always talked very lovingly of you and the kids. We always talk about many of the great holidays, both of you had together travelling to many interesting destinations.
I remember one day at the shipyard (it was Peter's birthday) and we wanted to play a trick on him! So, we attached a steel pin (shaped similar to a German war helmet of WW-II) to his hard hat. He came to work that day and put his hard hat on, went straight out on to the shop floor. He was suprised when the workers gave him a funny look and he could not understand why! It took him some time, but he figured it out and started to laugh with everyone on the shop floor.  Sorry, I am unable to come to the memorial service as I am presently working in China.

Dear Sally, Lee and Shannon. I Worked with Peter at Vancouver Shipyard and we have been  neighbours for 20 years.I was very saddened by the news of his passing. He was always very proud of his family and especially regaled us of the girls wrestling exploits and your World travels. I unfortunately I will be travelling on the day of his memorial service, but  you will all be in our thoughts and prayers.

We are very sad to hear the news of Uncle Peter's passing and our hearts and prayers go out to you Auntie Sally and family Lee, Shannon, and families here and in Germany.  Uncle Peter was always a great chum to my Dad - I remember going and cutting firewood with them both in Uncle Peter's old blue Ford 4x4 truck when I was quite young.  I made a fort of branches and hid in it to get away from the logging and noise!  Uncle Peter was always kind to me and always asked with genuine interest what kind of new projects I was working on - and sometimes even donated a tool to the cause.  I still have and use each of these tools almost everyday to build new things (or fix) around our farm. They have sentimental value to me.  Jane and I feel fortunate that he was able to come with Sally and see our place here and know that his kindness has helped us move ahead with our plans and some goals.  You are greatly missed.  Thank you.

I got to know him while working at VSY.
We both came from the same city, Hamburg,
although I am not sure if he was born there.
Like me, he was always proud to be a "Hamburger Jung"
