Lovingly remembered by her sons Dale (Margaret) and Dean (Joan), grandchildren Brittany, Paul (Jenna), Alecia, great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband Bob, daughter in law Nancy and granddaughter Shawna. She was the last surviving O’Reilly, predeceased by all her siblings, Norm, Marguerite, Verna, Hilda, Harold, and Ken.
Phyllis was born and raised in Brantford, Ontario. She attended Brantford Collegiate Institute and entered the workforce at a young age. Phyllis and Bob married in 1947 and built their first home together. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She loved music and art and enjoyed singing and performing. An avid curler and golfer at the Brantford Golf and Country Club, Phyllis organized many social events and was very involved in her community. She was a groundbreaker as a woman in car sales with Northway Mercury. Her doors were always open to friends and family. She loved to cook, host large dinners, and she made sure the freezer was always stocked with her homemade cookies for anyone who might drop by. Phyllis was a devoted wife, proud mother, and a loyal friend.
Phyllis moved to BC to be close to her family after Bob passed. She was welcomed by a new community of friends at Oceanbrook Apartments in West Vancouver and served on the executive of the council. She lived independently until she was 93 and kept in touch with old friends and relatives. As time and health issues caught up to her, she moved to Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver. The family is very grateful for the care and support she received there.
Arrangements for cremation have been made with the Hollyburn Funeral Home in West Vancouver, BC. Phyllis will make the final journey home to Brantford and will be interred next to Bob at Farringdon Burial Grounds on December 28, 2023, at 10am. Friends and relatives are welcome to join.
