October 7, 1930 – October 6, 2011
Passed away peacefully at home, after a long battle with cancer. Ron is survived by his wife Nancy Anne, brother Laurence (Charlotte), sons Mark (June), Glen (Ilona) and Todd (Gay). Also 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, 5 nieces and nephews, and his uncle, Clem Brennan. Ron spent many happy years with Legal Services in Vancouver, in Law Related Education with The Schools Program and connections, and Legal Beagle. He also served on the board of PIAC. One of his favourite pieces by John Donne, framed in his office, gives insight to his character;
No man is an iland, intire of itselfe; every man is a peece of the continent, a part of the maine; if a clodde bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine owne were, any man’s death deminishes me, because I am involved in mankinde;
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls…… it tolls for thee.
Ron died as he had lived, with dignity and grace. He will be sadly missed, but always remembered. A memorial service will be held in his honour at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, B.C. on Saturday November 5th at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Cancer Society in Ron’s memory would be appreciated
