Velma was born to parents Stella and Henry on November 28, 1916 in Fielding Saskatchewan and grew up in Glenella, Manitoba. Velma trained as a RN in Dauphin, Manitoba, and worked in the maternity ward at Grace, Vancouver General Hospital and B.C. Women’s Hospital from the 1940s until retirement in 1994.
Velma is survived by her daughter Bonnie, son Dennis (Kellie), granddaughter Shaelyn, close family friend Jerry, sister Jean and many nieces and nephews. Velma was predeceased by her husband Arvid, brothers and sisters Olive, Merle, Castle, Sidney and Vernon.
A private family service was held. In lieu of flowers, give a donation to the palliative care unit of Lions Gate Hospital or your favourite charity in her memory.
