For those of us who had the privilege of knowing her, Veronica McClure was truly one of a kind. She was a great lady who lived a long and eventful life, beginning in Newry, Northern Ireland and ending in Vancouver, British Columbia. In the course of her varied life, she gained the affection and admiration of everyone she met, and had a positive impact on countless people: as a loving daughter, a big sister, a skilled nurse and midwife, a devoted wife, an affectionate auntie, a loving mother and mother-in-law, a doting grandmother and perhaps, most of all, a very caring and special friend.
Veronica will be remembered most of all for her delightful beauty, her magnificent smile, her fantastic warmth and charm, her extraordinary kindness and an irresistible sense of humour! She was also someone with an exemplary faith in God, who would never hesitate to pray for others by having what she called “a wee chat with the Man Upstairs." This never seemed to fail! We know that her faith and her life of service and compassion were not only pleasing to God, but an expression of His great love for us and His desire for us to be comforted during our darkest hour and times of need.
Veronica is with still with us, if only in spirit, and we know that she will continue to extend herself for the many people she loved, bolstering our courage and soothing our grieving hearts.
