She was born in York, Alabama and lived in Moss Bluff. Barbara was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Westlake High School and received her Master’s degree in education from McNeese State University. She retired from the Louisiana State Department of Education where she worked as a Research Analyst.
Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Abshire of Moss Bluff; son, Gavin Abshire and wife, Michelle of Moss Bluff; and grandchildren, David Abshire, Leah Abshire and Joy Abshire. She was preceded in death by her son, Lance.
Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2015 from 5pm-9pm and will resume on Tuesday from 8am until service time at noon at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Burial will be at Westlake Memorial Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
