Delton Joseph Matte, age 90, of Westlake, Louisiana peacefully passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021. Delton was born March 2, 1931 to the late Edison and Adenzia Matte.

He very proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Delton worked as a Pipefitter at Conoco Phillips and retired after over 30 years of service. He then began his entrepreneurship owning and managing rental properties. Delton adored being in the outdoors, whether it was fishing, cooking, or camping. He had a mechanical knack for fixing just about anything that was broken. Delton was a jack of all trades. He thoroughly enjoyed dancing to Cajun music and could speak fluent Cajun-French. Delton loved to socialize and never met a stranger. He was a blessing to his family and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Glenda Matte Anderson of Westlake, La., Toni Matte Deshotel and husband Kent of Iowa, La.; son, Michael Wayne Matte and wife Felicia of Ragley, La.; sister, Barbara Jean Carriere of Church Point, La.; grandchildren, Jodi Anderson Rodgers and husband Kevin, Brent Anderson, Meagan Hebert and husband Dallas, Clayton Brown, Candace Church and husband Mike, and Ashleigh Matte; great-grandchildren, Jenna Rodgers, Jackson Rodgers, Jett Rodgers, Brody Anderson, Braxton Anderson, Kanen Cradure, Everett Hebert, Addison Matte, Michael Ecker, and Mikayla Matte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his adoring first wife of 35 years, Eva Safer Matte; parents; sisters, Clothile Richard, Rosa Mae Darbonne, Joyce Bergeron, Celise Carriere, and Isabelle "Terry" Elkins; and brothers, Roland Matte and Edison "SaSon" Matte, Jr.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his daughter, Glenda Matte Anderson, for being his primary caregiver the last 3 months.

As teenager I would dance with him to difference dance club. In our later years him and his wife would go to (Wayne and Layne) in sulphur onSunday afternoon where I had the pleasure to meet and dance with him again. He was one of the best dancer on the floor.

My dad loved to speak Cajun French with Mr. Matte. He spoke of their conversations often. It meant so much to him! Prayers for the family!
