Robert “Bob” Hardey, age 66, of Westlake, passed away January 29, 2022 in his home surrounded by loving family. Bob was born March 4, 1955 in Lake Charles, LA to Jerry and Bobbie Hardey. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and pop. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking trips on his motorcycle, and playing golf.
He worked for United Gas Pipeline for seventeen years and took an early retirement in 1991. For two years he owned Westlake Auto Tech. In 1993 he started working for Conoco as an instrument technician. Later he became Supervisor over the Instrument Department and retired in 2013. Bob served on the Westlake City Council for twelve years and was elected Mayor in 2014 and then ran unopposed in 2018. He served on numerous Boards, two of which were the Louisiana Municipal Association and the West Calcasieu Parish Community Center Authority. He was recently elected West Calcasieu Outstanding Citizen of the Year 2021. Bob was a recreation Coach for baseball, softball, and basketball.
Bob is survived by his wife, Janice Peck Hardey of forty-seven years. Three children, Janae Hardey, Jared (Tammy) Hardey, and Jamie (Keith) Stout. Seven grandchildren, Blaine, and Braiden Carlin, Ian, Evan and Beau Hardey, and Kohen and Carder Stout, his father, Jerry Hardey and four siblings, Jerilyn (Bobby) Mayo, Michael Hardey, Linda (Billy) Nordt and Don (Rhonda) Hardey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Hardey.
Visitation will begin at 10:00AM Friday February 4th, 2022 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church with a Rosary at 1:00PM and a Memorial Mass at 1:30PM. Rev. Jenesh Joseph will officiate. Burial will be at the Hardey Cemetery, Westlake, LA.
