Robert ‘Bob’ Parrish, 69, of Westlake, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2022 at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Robert was born May 16, 1953 in Augusta, Georgia to Thomas David Parrish, Jr. and Margie Nell (Brown) Parrish. He lived in many locales throughout his childhood and graduated from Trinity High School in Washington, Pennsylvania in 1971. After graduating high school, Robert attended both Allegheny Community College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and The University of California in San Rafael, California, where he studied art history, horticulture and landscaping.
Robert was a true entrepreneur, starting his own landscaping business soon after graduation. He loved traveling, and expanded this love into world travel early on. He traveled to Europe, South America, and to Asia, which he discovered to be his favorite. When he traveled, he loved living as the locals did, learning their language and culture. Robert spoke many different languages and dialects, and he eventually merged his love of traveling with his entrepreneurial spirit, and started an importing business; importing teak carvings and silks from The Philippines to the United States, where he worked with many liturgical supply companies, military groups and law enforcement agencies. Discovering he had a talent for acting, he found himself performing small parts in television commercials, movies and television series, including Dangerous Life with Gary Busey. Robert eventually settled in Westlake, Louisiana, making his home here 10 years ago.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Maryanne Parrish.
Left to mourn his passing are his brothers, Don Parrish and his wife Cathy of Berthoud, Colorado, David Parrish and his wife Carla of Washington County Pennsylvania, and Paul Parrish of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his life-long friend Pam Richardson of Kentucky; 5 nephews, 5 nieces, 6 great nephews, 7 great nieces, and 4 great great nephews.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy for the Parrish family may be shared at www.HixsonFuneralHomes.com, as cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Hixson Funeral Home.
