

She grew up in Gillsbury, MS. She played basketball in high school then moved to Baton Rouge where she met and married her husband, John N. Hyde Sr. They had 3 children together. After the death of her husband’s father, they moved to Spring Creek to take over his family’s dairy farm and become members of Spring Creek Baptist Church. She moved to Westlake, LA in early 1975 where she became a member of First Baptist Church of Westlake. Her husband became a trucker and she became a gardener and homemaker. She spent countless hours caring for the elderly in her community before she herself was unable to.
She is survived by her son, John Hyde, Jr. and wife Dorothy of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Shirley F. Hyde of Westlake; three grandchildren, Robert Hyde and wife Marie, Michelle Honeycutt, Christopher Hyde; four great grandchildren, Nathan, Robert and William Hyde, Tyler Honeycutt. She is also survived by her sisters, Onivia Trahan of Walker, LA, Kathleen Cannon of Sorrento, LA, and Lorraine Williams of McComb, MS. She is preceded in death by her husband, John N. Hyde Sr; one son, Sam Irby Hyde; parents, Herbert E. Rainwater and Estelle Higgins Rainwater; brothers, Charles and James Rainwater.
Visitation will commence Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with a funeral service starting at 5:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake, LA. Rev. Jay Hellums will officiate. Visitation will resume after service until 8:00 p.m. closing time. There will also be a funeral service at1:30 p.m., Monday, at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Spring Creek, LA.
