Things I remember about Uncle Chuck.

I remember him seeing him once or twice playing duets with Uncle Dick on their clarinets. I was young, but I remember thinking how nice it sounded especially when they played together. 

I remember his immaculate yard. He always seemed to be working on it, and later had the watering down to a science.

He loved my Mom. He always made it a very important event when they could get together and he treated her like royalty when she came to visit. 

He loved German food. It was hard to come by where I live. I found 2 places to take him. One in Leavenworth WA and another in British Columbia.  He was very appreciative.

Leavenworth is Washington State's Bavarian village. Never had a clue he was so into Christmas until I took him there. He went crazy going through all the Christmas shops getting ornaments for everyone in his family. He was so delighted.  I will always remember that day fondly. 

He loved taking pictures of the beautiful scenary. He once put himself at risk climbing to the edge of a huge boulder that was an outcrop over some very turbulent icy cold water to capture a picture of the Deception Pass Bridge. Made me pretty anxious at the time.

So glad he made the effort to come and see me when he was in the Pacific Northwest. I know he enjoyed his many travels. 

Much love to the whole Winter clan. We will miss him.

I just found out about the passing of your father.  Chuck was a remarkable man and I truly enjoyed spending time with him while I was at Devon Oaks last spring.  I will always remember his amazing smile, the twinkle in his eyes and his wonderful sense of humor.  Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

I knew Chuck and Verda for 65 years and remember the great times we had together.  Baldwin Wallace University was were we met and we have kept in touch with each other from then on.  Chuck will be missed!!  To the family of Chuck's, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

In the thirty plus years I knew Chuck's sister Dottie, she would tell me stories of their youth and Chuck's family. 
I'll always remember the great time Dottie and I had with Chuck & his family on our visit to Ohio. 
Chuck was such a kind, caring and pretty funny person.

I taught at James F Rhodes with Chuck for several years. We got along very well , and I have much respect for him . I will miss seeing him at the Lakewood YMCA , and other places. Chuck was a very Good Man . God Bless to his Family , John H Clay

The former Urbana University trustees who served with Chuck, send their sincerest condolences to his family. He is remembered for his dedication to U.U. and his commitment to a positive ongoing church - school relationship over his tenure as a trustee. He was instrumental in preserving the historic library book collection. (Former UU trustees, Steve Polsley, Deborah Grimes, Mike Major, Betsy Coffman, Bob Harrison, Fran Doyle)

The past trustees of Urbana University send their sincere condolences to Chuck's family as they honor Chuck for his years of dedicated service to UU. "He served the church and UU well, always seeking to support that relationship". He was conscientious and committed and contributed in numerous ways to the betterment of U.U. (Steve Polsley, Frank Doyle, Mike Major, Bob Harrison, Debbie Grimes - former trustees)

 I will always have the most wonderful memories of the largest indoor Christmas Tree each year, decorated with the love of your touch Uncle Chuck and the Trains making their way around the vast base of the branches.. Thank you for all the wonderful memories which will always be with us..
Say hello and give a big hug to Aunt Verda for me and tell Eddie he is still one of the most influential men of my youth..

One of the blessings in my life has been knowing both Chuck and Verda for so many years.  There are many of us who feel the same way -- from the local church, to the state association, to the national denomination and to the Board of Trustees of Urbana University.  In whatever way Chuck was called to serve, he responded without hesitation, and he served with dedication and commitment.  He was a true friend, and I will miss him.   Well done, good and faithful servant.   Come and enter into the joy of the Lord.

Much love and prayers to the family. Chuck is a wonderful man that I admired so much. He gave so much to our church family.  I will miss bringing him Pepsi for all our functions. He was in a wheel chair but still came to our wedding in December. What a wonderful, loving man!
