Kathleen A. Guist Buettner, 79, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late William and Melba Guist.
Kathleen was the beloved wife of the late Frank Buettner. She was a devoted mother to Mark (Colleen) Hoy, Stacy (Michael) DeMart, and Eric Hoy (Greg Tischler), and a loving stepmother to Jason (Jessie) Buettner, Mary (Scott) Lynne, Rachel (Chris) Morris, Eric Buettner, Charles (Diana) Buettner, and Heidi (Jason) Banak.
Nothing brought Kathleen greater joy than her family—especially her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jessica, Emily, Michael, Megan, Connor, Marissa, Allison, Lauren, Frank, Maya, Sam, Emmett, Teresa, Megan, Healy, Olivia, Zack, Eddie, Matthew, Lillian, and Elijah.
Kathleen was a natural caregiver, always putting others before herself. She had a gift for making people feel at home, whether through a lovingly prepared meal, a beautifully decorated space, or simply her listening ear. She cherished her many close friendships and was a dear aunt and friend to countless others whose lives were better for knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Vespoli, and her brother, Bill Guist. Kathleen was a faithful member of St. Clarence Church in North Olmsted, where her faith guided her life and sustained her family.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance during visitation on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 23040 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 AM at St. Clarence Church, 30106 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. (Please meet at the church.)
