Lawrence E. Stewart

Lawrence E. Stewart, age 88, of Bay Village, passed away June 28, 2013. He was the beloved husband of 56 years of the late Barbara M. (nee: Metcalfe). He was the loving father of Scott (Molly), Brian (Allison), Kerry (Susan), Jennifer (Joe) Nicholson, and Bruce (Lauretta). Dear grandfather of Corey (Megan) Stewart, Hilary (Nathan) Glaisner, Sean, Ian and Kelly Stewart, Caitlin Nicholson, Brendan Stewart, Jimmy Nicholson, Maggie Stewart, Christian Nicholson, Patrick , Connor, Riley, Cate, Sidney, and Lyla Stewart.

Lawrence was a past president of the Cleveland Bar Association, Ohio Academy of Trial Attorneys and Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys. He was chairman of the Court Management Project for the construction of the Justice Center in Cleveland and he was a fellow in the International Academy of Trial Attorneys, the Ohio chairman of the American College of Trial Attorneys and a former judge in the court of Nisi Prius where he loved to act and sing.

Lawrence loved his family and was a devoted husband and proud father and grandfather. He loved reading, music, skiing, golf, sailing and tennis. He was generous to a fault and leaves a legacy of dedication to his clients and compassion to all. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, work ethic and love of life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Sarah Stewart.

Family will receive friends from 4-8 pm Monday, July 1, at the CATAVOLOS-BERRY FUNERAL HOME 23040 Center Ridge Rd. Westlake. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, July 2, at St. Raphael Church 525 Dover Center Rd. Bay Village. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will follow at Lakewood Park Cemetery.
