RONALD JOSEPH SCHOECK, M.D. a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected physician, passed away at age 95, peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was a man of strength, steady leadership, inspiration, and unwavering dedication to those he loved and his profession.
Ronald grew up in Parma, Ohio, and attended St. Charles Borromeo school. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and as a true “Man for Others,” served as president of the Class of 1947. Ronald was a gifted athlete, played baseball, basketball and football and served as captain of the football team. Ronald was a standout “leftie” pitcher. His pitching talent led him to continue his Jesuit education and play college baseball for Fordham University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1951.
Following college graduation, Ronald served his country honorably as an Army veteran of the Korean War. Following his service, he pursued a call to medicine, and earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1957.
After returning to Ohio, Dr. Schoeck specialized in Radiology, practiced at Saint Vincent Charity Hospital and later Parma Community Hospital, where he served the community with compassion and expertise until his retirement.
Beyond his professional life, Ronald was deeply involved in the lives of his children and a loving and caring partner to his wife. In the 1970’s, he became a founding member of the Padua High School Athletic Booster Club. He volunteered his time as the team physician, always a supportive presence at countless games and practices. His love of sports extended to his family life, where he was a tireless cheerleader and guide. Always tinkering and fixing things, he was eager to help loved ones with any home project.
At home, Ronald found joy in gardening, transforming his family’s outdoor spaces into beautiful havens of peace and togetherness where many cherished memories were made.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marilyn (nee Horrocks); their four children, David (Patricia), Susan, Daniel (Amy) and Sara (Scott Tozzi); seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Kristin, David J., Dana, Whitney, Grant and Benjamin; and four great-grandchildren, Owen, Parker, Evan and Olivia. He was uncle to many. Ronald is pre deceased by his parents, Fred and May (nee Masat), aunts Helen (Masat) and Barbara (Masat) and brother Albert (Gloria). He will leave a legacy of kindness, commitment, quiet leadership and will live on in the lives he touched.
Dr. Ronald Joseph Schoeck will be deeply missed by many, but his impact will be felt for generations to come.
