Thomas was born on January 22, 1935 in Mannington, West Virginia. He was the son of Gordon Meade Price and Opal Estella Atha, who preceded him in death. Thomas served in the United States Air Force for four years before receiving an honorable discharge in August 1961. He met his future bride Ruth Ann Cawley at a local drug store, and they wed on November 10, 1961. Following his military service, he graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in business. Thomas then embarked upon a career in commercial real estate. His career took him and his family from West Virginia, to Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Cleveland, Ohio.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Ann Cawley Price, and his three children: Thomas Michael Price (Heather Grover), Charles David Price (Linda Galliker), and Stephanie Mason. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren Kathryn Vogel (Andrew), Michael Price (Melinda Alico), Olivia Burkett (Benjamin), Margaret Hawkes (Skyler), Rebecca Perryman (James), Connor Mason, Sydney Snyder (Garrett), Madeline Mason, Natalie Fischetti (Michael), Lance Mason, Chloe Mason, and Meredith Price, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
In his thirties, when Frank Shorter won the marathon at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, Thomas quit smoking cigarettes and began running. It became the central activity in his life and a source of contentment. He was often seen by neighbors running around his neighborhood in Avon Lake well into his eighties. He even hiked Pikes Peak, a 14,115 foot mountain, for his seventy-fifth birthday with his daughter Stephanie. In addition, he enjoyed many sports, especially baseball, football, basketball, and golf.
Thomas will be interred in a private service with family present. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve at hospicewr.org
