Born and raised in Cedartown, Georgia, Anita was a woman who was truly, uniquely herself. After attending a girl's college for two years, she boldly charted her own course, moving to Atlanta to become a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines. Her days as a "stewardess" were a defining and proud period of her life. While she went on to have other memorable jobs in the community at Edmonson’s Travel and Hansen’s Furniture, it was her time in the sky that she cherished most. While she cherished her years and career as a flight attendant, her job as a mother was her greatest accomplishment.
Anita will be remembered by those who knew her as a kind and generous soul with a vibrant sense of humor. A die-hard fan of both the 49ers and the Georgia Bulldogs, she was a lover of music and dancing, a great cook, and a passionate gardener. She had a gift for making every guest in her home feel welcomed and at ease. Above all, Anita was a storyteller who connected with people by sharing her past stories and making them a part of her world.
She was an incredible and beloved wife, mother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her loving daughter, Holly Brown, several nieces and nephews and a community of friends that loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late great Douglas Brown, Linus Brown (her beloved grandson the Golden Retriever), her parents Louise Peacock and Rhett Milam and her brother, Rhett Milam Jr.
The family would also like to thank Select Senior Living of Thousand Oaks, California and all the amazing caregivers for the care and compassion that was provided to Anita and Holly over the past three years.
A private celebration of Anita's life will be held on September 29, 2025
