Araxi Toros Panossian, who friends affectionately knew as Roxi, and who we knew as our loving Mother, met her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2022. We will all miss her grace, love, selfless character, and beauty. She will be missed tremendously.
Our Mother began her journey into this world on September 13, 1945 in Aleppo, Syria as the fifth of six children of her amazing and industrious parents Haroutune and Yeranik Adanalian who were survivors of the Armenian Genocide. The family eventually moved to Beirut, Lebanon where our Mother lived her early adult years. She always reminisced about her childhood and the beautiful memories she had of her loving family and the many fun times they spent together.
Our Mother received her Bachelor degree from the American University of Beirut and was a respected elementary school teacher at the AGBU Nazarian School for a few years before she met out loving Father. Our Mother was very talented and fluent in multiple languages including Armenian, English, Arabic and Turkish. Our Father and Mother married in Beirut, Lebanon and our Father brought our Mother to the United States where they started their family in Detroit, Michigan. Our Father and Mother later made their way to Ventura County in California where they called it their home for 36 years.
Our Mother was the heart of our family and was the rock for 47 years of marriage to her devoted husband. She guided all four of her children and six grandchildren with faith in the Lord, with values, and with the traditions of the Armenian culture. She was tremendously proud to be an American and watched her family flourish in this beautiful country she called and made a home. Our Mother cherished and adored her family and took pride in their heights of success in which she was instrumental in helping guide and encourage us in our professional journeys. She instilled the importance of hard work and education in her children and grandchildren.
Our Mother was a beautiful and selfless soul with so much love to give and devotion to her family. She had a beautiful and beaming smile and an infectious laugh that we will never forget. She was a very soft spoken lady who carried herself with dignity and class and was fiercely protective of her family. Our Mother was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman – a virtuous woman who led her home with integrity, discipline, and who always aimed at making her husband’s life better, teaching her children, and serving her Lord.
We know in our hearts that our Mother is with the Lord and reunited with her parents, brother and sisters and with our dear Father.
We are blessed beyond measure to have been raised by our amazing and loving Mother and to have called her “Mom”.
