Burton Roger, born July 7, 1937 in Illinois, passed away September 25, 2020 in Westlake Village, California. Burt loved his grandchildren more than anything, followed closely by his undying love for his wife, Elfi, and his children, Deborah, Caren, and Stefan. Burt could be found on warm days cleaning his pristine pool, playing with his beloved dog, Abby, or reading his newspaper. He loved 1940’s big band and jazz music, having played the trumpet himself in his youth. Burton was also known for his unique ability to connect with people, including his uncanny talent for listening and learning about others, what made them tick and what they loved to do. It’s no wonder he was such a gifted psychiatrist for over 45 years. Burt could relate to virtually anyone by engaging them about their true passions, and he made anyone talking with him feel truly heard and liked. His gentle and non-confrontational manner instantly put those around him at ease. Burt had a great sense of humor and appreciated a clever, well-crafted joke or the playful antics of his beloved Abby. Burton will be missed for his ability to talk his family through any problem or situation and to always finding the time to be there for those who loved him. His lasting legacy of teaching the importance of showing up for others, working hard each and every day, and always having integrity and compassion, will carry on in all who had the chance to learn from his examples. He was, and always will be deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
