I do miss Grandma Bell.  She would regale me with fascinating stories when she was a child.  
She was a great storyteller and I loved her stories.

Charletta was an incredible woman of faith. Despite struggling with health issues she was so willing to help send cards to women in our ward for their birthdays. I had many women say how meaningful those cards were to them. Charletta had a powerful testimony and was a great example to me of a life lived in the service of God.

I really appreciated talking to her about family history and music. I didn’t know her well for long but in that short time she was a very positive and kind influence and I am a better person for knowing her. She clearly raised a good family and I am sorry for their loss.

She became very special to us. We shared so many of our  “highs and lows” and she always provided wise grandmotherly counsel. We will miss her love, kindness and compassion. We were so glad that we were able to share our grandkids pictures and kept her updated with our family journey.  She was and is a “choice daughter of our Heavenly Father. She will be missed.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Charletta. We have many fond memories of 
her and Bruce (our bishop, stake presidency member and patriarch) while we lived in the Northridge 2nd Ward until we moved to Gardnerville, Nevada in 2007.
They were a big part of our families lives.

My favorite memories of Grandma Bell is how well versed she was with the hymns. It seemed like she knew every hymn!  She had a delightful sense of humor and was always grateful.   

Sunday mornings I would take a picture, with my iphone of the sacrament program. It took me seconds to do this very small act but she always sent me a thank you.  
 
Grandma Bell was a greatful person despite her limitations brought on by age.  

She had marvelous memories of church history. She was a big part of church history.  Baptized in the Tabernacle in Salt Lake. 

She was also a living church historian. She passed through the veil with a valid Temple Recommend. She was, indeed, a Saint!

In the last few years, Charletta was very generous in helping me better understand our family history.   From our discussions, I was inspired assemble the various pieces of our collective family history that she could then critique and offer guidance, which she graciously did.   Her knowledge and personal memories of family events and history were precise, invaluable, and insightful.

As cousins, since my earliest childhood memories, Bruce and Charletta have been a part of my life.   I did not know them well then but came to know them better in later years.   Bruce and Charletta seemed to me to have a very special loving bond, Bruce with a gentle patient strength that seemed to complement Charletta, whose strength was more direct and definite.   Once again, they are together.

I adored her.   I truly appreciated her compassion and wisdom, and very much respected her candor.   I miss her, I miss them both.

Most of my memories of Mrs Bell are of the times of celebration, the wedding or graduations. I remember her smile and feeling of pride she felt for her family. She will be missed.

I married her grandson and had the privilege of calling her grandma for the past 15 years. She took me in as one of her own. She sent handwritten birthday cards and gifts for every birthday and spoiled our children for all of their birthdays. She was overjoyed everytime she received a text picture of our kids , and was so excited about each and every accomplishment. I've never had a grandparent so involved in each of out lives as she was. She loved her family more than anyone I know. Her loss will be felt.

I have known Mrs. Bell‘s daughter, Melodie, since we were in the fifth grade. Yes, even though I’m an adult now, I’ll always know her as Mrs. Bell! I have often visited their house while growing up, and saw that it was a strong family and Christ-centered home. Of course this is due to the diligence and love from great parents.  As a young friend of Melodie. I didn’t realize all of the service that Mrs. Bell had done throughout her life until I heard the eulogies at the memorial service this week. She certainly has led an impressive life. I’m grateful I was able to see her one more time last month. She was still very clear of mind and even remembered me. I will always think of her as a strong and caring woman who did so many things for others. My deepest condolences to the family.   Lorraine French-Fulleman

I see so much in Melodie (nee Bell) Bennett that comes from her wonderful mother, Charletta. There's a quiet intelligence, fierce devotion to family and love of God that is so clear in both. Wishing the families peace and assurance in these days. Yours for more joy,  Cindy and Walt Price

Nothing can replace your loved one, but find peace in knowing that one day you will be reunited with her in Heaven. Praying for your family.

I met your parents shortly after were married and moved into the NR2 ward.  Your dad was in the stake presidency (I think), your Mom was the Primary chorister and I was called as the pianist.  During sharing time we would sit by the piano and chat.  Sometimes we missed our cue because the conversation was so good! When the songs were too difficult for me to play on the piano, she traded with me and I became the chorister.   She did what had to be done. I came to rely on her wisdom and loved that she had some strong opinions about things, just like me!  She told me that whenever people ask when we are going to have children to remember that those same people wouldn't be there in the middle of the night when that baby was crying.  In other words, I shouldn't let people influence our decision of when to start our family.  We ended up having six kids and our only daughter shares a January 11 birthday with my friend.    As a fellow alto, I loved singing with your Mom in the ward choir.  She was a wealth of knowledge and I always felt that if Charletta felt a certain way or gave counsel, I should follow because she knew what she was talking about.  To know her was to know she loved her Savior.

Our Mom's were friends.  My mom passed away in 2022 and she posted a message for me on FB  "Oh Jennifer I didn’t know. Diane was in the top of the list of wonderful women. She served in many leadership capacities. I have been praying fervently for her recovery but Heavenly Father said No just like he did with my husband. I’m sure Bruce greeted her warmly on the other side Stay strong and keep the faith."  Her words brought comfort to my aching soul.  

I know you are staying strong and keeping the faith because that is what you have been taught to do by your dear parents.  What a wonderful service today and a beautiful tribute to your faithful mother.  Your parents will never be separated again.  May our Father in Heaven continue to bless each of you.

The truest example of a life well lived and fulfilled. She gave others a sense of self when engaged with her, she gave her full attention.  Her commitment to her family is unsurpassed. I am forever better having met her,  on a side note, her glamour shot is exquisite! Wishing you a warm welcome at your new harbor Sister Bell.

Sending deepest sympathy for the passing of Charletta Bell from this world to eternal life with John Bruce Bell. Thanking you so much for sending your son Randy as a missionary to the UK in the 1970’s, who taught me and my wife Jean so much about the gospel and changed our lives in so many ways.

I cherish my memories of Charletta visiting with my mom, Virginia.  They shared a special bond and truly embodied the phrase "hearts knit together in unity and love."  My mother would call Charletta every night after Wheel of Fortune and they would discuss the final puzzle and whether or not they guessed it. I loved hearing them talk and laugh about their memories together. These visits were especially fun when our Nemelka cousins Larry, Dick, and Beth would come to visit. We would laugh so hard! One of my favorite stories was Larry's rendition of Charletta babysitting him and his older brother Carl. As I remember the story, they would play paperdolls. Charletta was Blondie. Carl was Dagwood. And Larry had to be the dog Daisy. He felt slighted since Daisy only had two outfits to change into.
When my mother passed away, Charletta made a special effort to help fill that loss for me. I love Charletta. She is one in a million. 💕

We moved into Northridge in 1994. The next 25 years (and more, when we came back to visit) were filled with encounters with Charletta and her husband Bruce.  Memories include singing in the ward choir next to Bruce (his voice was better than mine) and getting Charletta's tips on how to sing properly as a choir. She was not the choir director anymore, but she sure knew a lot about choirs. Her suggestions were especially valuable to Sonja during the years Sonja served as choir director. 

There was never a time when Charletta wasn't friendly and kind, candid and plain-spoken, and above all, encouraging.  In particular she was a fan of Sonja's singing, and loved to listen to it. Almost every time she had a conversation with Sonja, Charletta would say something about how much Sonja's singing thrilled and delighted her.  Charletta may have been Sonja's biggest fan, and that meant a great deal to Sonja. 

I  happened  to be in the ward bishopric for eight consecutive years.  To me the very back row of that chapel will have an empty space where Charletta always sat.  During that time  I could always look to the back of the chapel and see her smiling, often at me. That gave me a lift every time. In more recent years. almost every fast Sunday she would rise from her walker and bear her testimony with the portable microphone that was brought to her there.  The meeting was always at a spiritual peak when she finished. 

She and I chatted briefly every Sunday. Sometimes I had the privilege of driving her home from church. She was always profusely grateful, but I knew that it was I who had the privilege and blessing of being with her. 

Over the past week or so, every time I have thought of Charlotte's passing, I see in my mind an image of her and Bruce  now together, smiling broadly. They loved each other so much and so devotedly, and she missed Bruce so.  I can only imagine how gentle and yet powerful they will be as a team, now together forever.

Such a beautiful woman, always an example, pure and kind, she was one of my favorite neighbors, I always remember her being so faithful and loving to her children. The Lord is happy to have his loving daughter back.  Bless her family. ❤️

I have known Charletta  and Bruce for at least fifty years from our association at church.  They were such a wonderful couple, strong on their own, but formidable  as a couple.  Both gentle spirits, loving and caring.
Charletta had a quiet dignity and I had an edgy sense of humor, but she liked me anyway.  I have lived in Utah for 30 years, and she always followed me and commented on my posts on FBook.  I will miss her presence and influence in my life.

I am really going to  miss our phone calls🥲 She was my who was this and who did that person❤️ I know she shared a lot with her girls and Randy so  I’m hoping to be able to call one of you now and again to be my informant.😂😂 Love you all and my Love and prayers will always be there.

Charletta had a generous, kind soul. She was first cousin to my mother, Melva Elaine Howell Kelly, born in 1926 and passed in 1999. Charletta was friends with my Mom and her sisters Pat and Bonnie as they were growing up in Salt Lake City in the 1930s and 1940s (including attending South High School at 15th South and State St.). I am presently writing a history book, "Journeys to Zion," about our pioneer ancestors and Charletta helped me with this project.  Thank you Charletta! I believe Charletta is the last of her and my mother's generation.
