

She was born on January 11, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles Jefferson Cotterell and Mary Ethel Howell Cotterell. She grew up in Salt Lake City. After graduating from high school in 1946, she moved to California where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cal State University, Los Angeles.
She married John Bruce Bell on June 20, 1951 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 31 years, retiring in 1990. She taught at Parthenia Street Elementary School and Langdon Avenue Elementary School.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many church callings including; Counselor in the Stake Young Women's Presidency", Relief Society President, Primary President, Choir Director, Teacher, Ward Organist, Pianist, Temple Ordinance Worker and Patriarch Scribe.
The thing she enjoyed most was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing the piano, singing in church choirs, doing family history and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Beth Cotterell, Gayle Nemelka, Virginia Watts, Beverly Cotterell and Betty Scott and her granddaughter Aimee Michele Muir.
She is survived by her four children Cynthia (Al) Muir, Randall (Diana) Bell, Melodie (Bart) Bennett and Marylynn (Scott) Mackelprang, her 15 grandchildren and her 34 great-grandchildren.
