Edward Lawrence entered God’s peace March 18, 2011. Ed Cordell was born Dec 4, 1923 in Eagle Rock, CA to E.B. Cordell and Alice (Malone) Cordell, 3rd of their four children. In December he celebrated his 87th year. As a youth in Riverside, Ed learned carpentry working with his father. He married Ida June Lockwood in 1943. From UC Berkeley Ed was called into Army service for WWII, a ’90 day wonder’ second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps. Ed and June (now deceased), were active members of the community in Oxnard and the First Presbyterian Church. Divorced, Ed then married Joyce Lankow.
Ed and Joyce made their home in Agoura, then Camarillo. They enjoyed camping, trips to Yosemite, square dance, golf, bridge and especially flight. Ed built and piloted a Veri Eze. He learned to depict favorite landscapes in oil on canvas. Ed and Joyce were active in Shepherd of the Valley and later Mount Cross Lutheran church, where they sang in choir.
