With heavy hearts we share that Egon Richard Kritsch of Westlake Village, California, passed away on August 16, at the age of 93. He was born on May 31, 1932 in Friest, Pomerania, formerly East Germany. In 1950, after World War II, his family became refugees and traveled to the United States by sea. Shortly after arriving in the US, he was drafted into the US Army and served with pride in the Intelligence Unit during the Korean War.
He earned his accounting degree from Loyola University in Chicago, and later worked for Sinclair Oil and ARCO before retiring where he continued to provide a wonderful life for his wife Dolores and two children.
He is preceded in death by his father Richard, mother Frieda, and his brothers Gunther, Richard, and little sister Carolyn.
He is survived by his devoted wife and love of his life for 68 years, Dolores Kritsch, who he shared a marriage that was a true example of love, partnership, and unwavering commitment. He called her “Peanuts” and she was his everything. Egon’s greatest pride and joy was his family, putting them first in everything he did. He will be forever cherished by his children Judie and Richard, his grandchildren Nichole, Brittany, Blake, Taylor, Jackson and Cade, and his great-grandchildren Isa, Revel, Josie and Walker.
Egon was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church until Covid, and raised his children to love God, instilling in them faith that will guide them the rest of their lives. He served as the treasurer and many days were spent there maintaining the grounds and helping any way possible.
Egon was happiest when spending time with family, whether sailing the open ocean on his Catalina 27, traveling and cruising around the world with Dolores, skiing in Mammoth or fixing just about anything in the house. His repairs sometimes created as many laughs as solutions, but his determination and love for helping never waivered. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course with is buddies. He was known for his warm and funny smile, and his way of brightening any room he entered. His humor, kindness and generosity touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
The impact Egon made on the lives of those around him is immeasurable. He will always live in our hearts and remembered not only for his love and laughter, but also the way he showed us all what it means to live life fully and most importantly to love deeply.
