

Jim grew up in Renton where he graduated from Renton High School in 1943. After high school at the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.
He attended Radio School at in Atlantic City, New Jersey where he was certified as a radio man for the US Coast Guard. He served from 1943 to 1946 in Hawaii and the South Pacific.. He received an honorable discharge at the close of the War in 1946.
After his discharge he took college classes in Los Angeles and then returned to Renton Washington.
He began working for Zute Bussinelo in Zute’s delicatessen. He left Zute’s to work at Pacific Car & Foundry where he began working in the data processing field. He was offered and accepted a job as the data processing manager for the Seattle P.I. where he worked for 15 years.
In 1982 he and Evelyn moved to Los Angeles when he took a job for the Hearst Corporation. After a few years he transferred to a job for the Daily News where he worked until he retired in 1986. Upon retiring he and Evelyn moved to Palm Springs where they enjoyed the warm weather for many years. He and Evelyn moved to Thousand Oaks two years ago and lived at Atria where they enjoyed the people and activities and were very happy
Jim married Evelyn on April 9th, 1954 in Renton Washington. They were happily married for 61 years. He was a member of Fraternal order of the Eagles for 60 years. He was also a member of the Episcopal church. Jim enjoyed golf and bowling. He found great joy in reading the newspaper everyday. He loved politics and followed them daily as he would tell you if given the opportunity.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ethel, daughter Lynne and his brother Jack.
Jim is survived by his wife Evelyn of Thousand Oaks, California. His son Tim and Tim’s wife, Laura. His grandchildren Amy and Andrew who were the light of his life. As well as his nieces, Julie, Nancy, Marilyn and nephews, Steve, Doug and Greg.
A memorial service was held at Pierce Brothers Valley Memorial at 5600 Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village, Ca. at 2pm on Wednesday March 2nd.
