Jeanne Lorraine Boone, 84, died peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, August 18, 2012. Agoura Hills has been home for her these past 45 years. Jeanne was born October 2, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI to Dutch Reformed parents that both came from the Netherlands. Jeanne an adventurous sixteen year old, left home and enrolled into Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing. At age 21 she took a job as the nurse on board a fishing boat in Alaska which included travelling into villages to inoculate the Eskimos. Her time in Alaska was truly one of her fondest memories. Jeanne raised two children, Susan and Jeffrey. She was a strong, independent, hard working woman. She worked for LAUSD as a school nurse and at the West Valley Occupational Center. In 1978, Jeanne married Charles Boone, a remarkable man who passed away in 2008. They traveled and enjoyed spending time with all their dear friends. Many of these friends were from the Conejo Valley Single Set Group which Jeanne was a founding member of. Jeanne's favorite hobby was quilting and it became her passion. Her quilts are a testament to her legacy. Jeanne's grandson David was born in 1994 and he became another one of her joys in her life. She lived a great life, she was much loved and she will be sorely missed. For those family and friends who wish to join us for a celebration of her life, please join us at the Chapel at Valley Oaks at Pierce Brothers in Westlake on September 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow.
