After completion of U.S. Army service, Joe moved to California in 1962, where he built a distinguished career and had a full, meaningful life. He joined the California Highway Patrol and rose through the ranks over a remarkable 31-year career, culminating in his role as Commander of the West Valley CHP Office.
Education was always important to Joe. He earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge, and later completed his teaching credential at California Lutheran University. In retirement, he continued his lifelong commitment to public service—teaching Criminal Justice at Moorpark College for seven years, working as a retirement counselor for the California State Teachers’ Retirement System, and preparing taxes for AI Financial in Simi Valley for several years.
Joe was deeply devoted to his family and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Laurie; his children, Brian (Holly), Jason (Heather), and Krista (Jeff); his grandchildren, Megan, Zachary, and Mia; his brothers, Alfredo (Jane) and Richard (Betty), as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joe will be remembered for his integrity, wisdom, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and dedication.
