Mary Ann was born on September 6, 1926 to James and Flora Woods in Birmingham, Alabama into what became a family of six. They soon moved to Washington, DC. After a short stint at Trinity College, she met the love of her life, Etter D’Orazio, who was at the Naval Photographic Center in Anacostia, Wash. DC. Soon, she was swept off her feet. They got married on April 4, 1945 and in time relocated to Los Angeles, CA.
She lived a wonderful life in Pacific Palisades, CA for 25 years as a devoted wife and mother, a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, President of the Catholic Women’s Association and a Real Estate agent. In 1969, she was widowed from Etter just four months shy of their Silver Anniversary. Soon after, she united with a former member of her church congregation, Martin Miller in 1971. They shared some 34 years as husband & wife in Thousand Oaks, CA enjoying family, friends and golf, before Martin passed away in 2005.
In the early 60’s, Mary Ann accompanied her first husband Etter to the Cinecitta Studios near Rome, Italy where he was employed as a Dub Dialogue Director on the Twentieth Century-Fox film “Cleopatra”. That, and several cruises, as well as trips to Spain to visit her daughter Debbie, were highlights of her illustrious life.
She was a beautiful, good-natured and stylish lady with an infectious laugh who was liked by all who met her. Mary Ann loved to read, travel, study Spanish, play golf and cards and adored her children and grandchildren. She touched and inspired so many lives extending three generations with her seemingly endless love and affection.
Mary Ann is survived by her three siblings: James L. Woods Jr. of Texas, Virginia Greene of Florida and Mark Woods of Connecticut. Four children survive her: Dee (Genevieve) of Agoura Hills, Joanette (Javier) of Westlake Village, Debbie of Spain and Martin J. Miller, Jr. of Thousand Oaks. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Alexis, Nick, Cristina, Erika and Etta.
Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 10 AM at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary, 5600 Lindero Canyon, Road, Westlake Village, CA. Her remains will be interred with her first husband Etter at Holy Cross Cemetery at 12 PM in Culver City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the “Alzheimer’s Association” (In memory of Mary Ann Miller) mailed to: Sunrise Senior Living, 3102 Townsgate Road, Westlake Village 91361.
