Michael Alan Doty went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2026 and was laid to rest in a private service. Mike was born in Burbank in 1951 to Jack and Betty Doty, who predeceased him. The family moved to Thousand Oaks in 1959 and Mike graduated from Thousand Oaks High School in 1969. He worked at Sears on the Janss Mall as a maintenance supervisor and met Lynn Siracusa, who worked in the coffee shop. They married in 1975 and settled in Thousand Oaks where they welcomed two daughters, Heather Doty (Rob) in 1976 and Amber Crowley (Matt) in 1980. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 4, 2025.
Mike was a union electrician with Taft, retiring after 30 years. He was able to spend time working on his classic cars or playing blues guitar in his shop, taking care of their beautiful yard or hunting for antiques with Lynn. He was a man of many talents who knew how to get things done.
Mike played guitar on the worship team for 25 years, and was able to mentor and minister to many people, whether at church or over a guitar or amp he was fixing in his shop. Mike was a soft spoken man that people sought out for fellowship. His words carried a lot of weight, and when he spoke, people listened.
7 grandchildren were blessed to call Mike ''Grandpa''. Carson, Wesley, Calum, Hazel, Ava, Ian and Maya. One of his greatest joys was spending time with them, at their sporting events or dance recitals, teaching them guitar and how to work on cars, go karts in the church parking lot and baking cookies and cinnamon rolls, just for fun. By sharing interests, he helped to guide their life's journeys. His wisdom and quiet, loving presence will always be felt.
Mike leaves behind his loving wife, Lynn, his daughters and their families, his siblings John Doty, Andy Doty and Kathi Brakebill and their families, along with many friends who will miss him. Mike will be honored at a Celebration of Life, Saturday March 14, 2026 at the Lighthouse Church 3353 Old Conejo Rd., Newbury Park CA 91320 at 10:00am, with a reception immediately following.
