Born in Los Angeles, Nancy grew up in Atwater and Burbank. She graduated from Burbank Senior High School in 1952, earned her associate degree from Glendale College, and attended ArtCenter College of Design on a summer scholarship. She met her husband, Robert, at the Glendale College swimming pool, they married in 1957 and raised their family in Burbank before retiring to Westlake Village in 1993.
Nancy was a preschool teacher, homemaker, and talented watercolor painter. She was an active member of the Burbank Art Association, Women’s Painters West, and the Westlake Village Art Association, earning many awards for her work. Her greatest joy came from her devotion to God and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her brothers Gordon and Bobby, and her parents, Ernest and Hildur Vatcher. She is survived by her children Jane and her husband Scott Shepley, Jon, and Janet; her grandchildren, Holly and her husband Jeff Perez, Brad, Matt and his wife Genesis, Joey and Grace; and two great-grandchildren.
Our family knows that with her last breath she was in the presence of our Lord in Heaven along with her beloved husband, parents and siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Memorial Park, Westlake Village.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles or Union Rescue Mission of Los Angeles.
