Rickey Dean Simmons, known as Rick, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in Olympia, WA, and raised in Minneapolis, MN, Rick served in the U.S. Army from 1971–1973 and went on to build a 45-year career in information technology, serving over 30 years as a CIO and healthcare IT consultant.
Rick was known for his wisdom, dry humor, sharp style, and deep love for family. A lifelong Lakers fan and Jaguar enthusiast, he found joy in fine dining, classic films, and planning for those he loved. His legacy of integrity, loyalty, and service lives on through all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Leauretta Simmons; daughters, Nicole Hendrix and Jade Mackley; mother, Colleen Hodroff; and many loving siblings and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Simmons; stepfather, Monroe Hodroff; and several beloved siblings.
A funeral service will be held on June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park in Westlake Village, CA, with burial to follow.
