16 septembre 1933 – 19 mai 2024
Avis de décès de Virginia "Ginny" Palivec
AUX SOINS DE

Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park, Mortuary & Crematory

Virginia Ann Palivec, 90, of Thousand Oaks, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Mary Health of the Sick Convalescent and Nursing Hospital in Newbury Park, CA. Daughter of Joseph M. Palivec and Theresa M. Andrews, Virginia was born on September 16, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in Ohio, Arizona, and California, but returned to Ohio in 1956 to attend St Alexis School of Nursing, where she received distinct recognition with a Nurses Merit Award from the Academy of Medicine Women’s Auxiliary. Upon graduation, Virginia returned to California, and began her 50 year career at St John’s Health Center in Santa Monica.

Virginia spent her first 17 years providing bedside care on the medical/surgical floor, later advancing to greater responsibility as medicine nurse, and charge nurse. In 1973, Virginia was selected by St. John’s administrators to become their new Utilization Review Coordinator, where she reviewed patient charts and consulted with medical staff about appropriateness of patient admission and continued stay. She was always committed to patient care, deeply compassionate, and highly dedicated. Her interpersonal skills made her a natural in her next role as Case Manager, in which she served until her retirement in 2006.

Virginia was a resident of Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks during her retirement, a parishioner of St Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Newbury Park, and spent much time volunteering, especially as a regular at the Merry Hall Tree Thrift Store in Newbury Park. She was always energetic, enthusiastic, generous, and extremely selfless in every cause she championed.

She was a loving sister, dear Aunt Ginny to many, and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her sister, Nancy Randolph of Newbury Park; four nephews, Mark (Bobbie) Randolph of Severance, CO, Matt (Joyce) Randolph of Crystal Lake, IL, Drew Randolph of Indio, CA, David (LeAnn) Randolph of Moorpark, CA, and 13 grandnieces/grandnephews. Her sister, Louise Myers of Las Vegas, NV, preceded her in death.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10 a.m., at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Newbury Park. If attending, please wear brightly colored attire, as it will be a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, which will be allocated towards the homeless, as per Virginia’s wishes.
