William Herbert Skinner was born in Easton, Pennsylvania, to Romaine and Olive Skinner on September 29, 1927. He passed away peacefully in his home in Thousand Oaks at the age of 83 on February 13, 2011. He earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He served in the Merchant Marine in World War II and in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Margaret Batten in Flat River, Missouri, on August 14, 1955.
Bill was a father, son, grandfather, and husband. He also was the household plumber, electrician, auto mechanic (especially on his 1930 Model A pick-up truck), pool man, lawn and garden keeper and Mr. Fix-it. He was also a national defense employee, musician, teacher and a great provider for his family. And all of this with a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; brother, Kenneth; daughters Leslie (Kurt) Schwarz, Stacy Roberts (Mark Grosche), and Valerie (Ron) Peterson, and his son Bill (Nancy) Skinner. He treasured his five grandchildren, Victoria Peterson, Madison Roberts, Katie Schwarz, Tyler Peterson, and Lily Skinner.
The family is grateful for the fine care he received from Buena Vista Hospice and Comfort Keepers.
