Yana Packard

We lost our sister and friend on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Yana (Reskusich) Packard passed away peacefully at Belmont Village Senior Living in Calabasas having suffered from Alzheimer’s for the last few years. She was the wife of Roy E. Packard who preceded her in death in December 2011.

Yana was born on September 9, 1942 in Komiza on the island of Vis in Croatia, Yugoslavia, to Ivo Reskusic and Perka (Vitaljic) Reskusic. With her mother, Perka, and sister, Kathy, Yana journeyed to the United States arriving in New York City on January 1, 1952, and finally joining her father, Ivo, who had emigrated to San Pedro, California, in September 1950. After graduating from San Pedro High School in 1961. Yana received an Associates Degree from Harbor Junior College. She worked for several businesses in the LA area ultimately meeting and marrying Roy on September 14, 1968.

Yana was an accomplished seamstress. She really enjoyed making beautiful ceramic pieces for her family and friends. She loved to cook, entertain and travel all over the world. Yana volunteered and devoted her time and efforts to Assistance League in Ventura County. But, most of all she loved her family and many friends, both here and in Croatia.

Yana is survived by her sister, Kathy (James) Custer of Redding, CA, and her brother, John (Nancy) Reskusich of Bristol, RI; her daughters, Nicole M. (Henry) Glah of San Diego, CA, and Denise R. Packard of North Hills, CA; her grandsons, Henry J. and Oliver E. Glah; and her many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Croatia and California.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Yana at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 5801 Kanan Road, Westlake Village, CA 91362 at 10AM, Monday, September 9, 2024. Burial will follow immediately at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, CA 91362.
