We are truly saddened to inform all of you of the passing of our mom, Thu Thi Corey. Though small in stature, to all who knew her she was a giant whose life and legacy will always be remembered. She was our family’s matriarch, always working tirelessly in her efforts to help and support her family. Thu Corey was a beautiful woman, both inside and out. Everyone who came to know her, loved her and her infectious smile.
Born in Vietnam in 1940, Thu fell in love and married Raymond Corey from Evansville, Indiana and together they had three beautiful daughters. After the fall of the Saigon, Thu immigrated to the United States with her husband and children. Upon her arrival to the United States, Thu immediately began working diligently to bring as many of her remaining family members to the United States.
Thu was a devout wife, mother and Buddhist. She loved spending time in her garden where she found peace when tending to it. Her garden provided a tranquil setting where she hosted many, many family BBQs and celebrations. Thu had a nurturing soul and her family was everything to her. Thu leaves behind her three daughters - Lyda, Nancy and Elizabeth along with her two son-in-laws Michael and Chris.
Hers truly was a great American story; that one can come from such humble beginnings and go on to impact so many lives the way that she did. Thu Corey left her mark on our world, she made a difference. Thu was passionate about life, she loved deeply and in return, was deeply loved. May she rest in peace, know that her family misses her fiercely and will love her forever.
