Siri Payakapan passed away on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14, 2023 at the age of 73. She was an adventurer. She was born and raised in Thailand but took the opportunity to spend her last year of high school in Wisconsin as an AFS student. She started university in Chiba, Japan where she met her husband of 47 years, Ranong. But she ended up transferring to the University of Minnesota to finish her degree in architecture. She continued her education, receiving her masters after getting married and having a child, Tassanee. Then she finished her PhD in planning after moving to California. She always valued education and wanted to continuously learn. In her later years, she joined Toastmasters and gradually took on leadership roles in that organization. And in the last four years after her cancer diagnosis, she’s been writing books about her family.
Siri loved food and travel and went all over the world to four continents and numerous countries. Travel allowed her to explore different cultures and try all kinds of foods. She lived a life filled with adventures in travel and food, surrounded by the people she loved. She will be dearly missed.
