I only had a few interactions with Tommy but he helped me shoot one of my first cosplay photoshoots ever and i’m so grateful to have had that experience with him. he was always so nice and friendly to be around and every time i saw him on campus it was always such a joy. thank you tommy for everything!

Met my chance at my bachelorette at Audien in Arizona of August 2023. Decided last min to go to the show with my girls that day and had the pleasure of meeting you & Aiko. Crazy you had a ‘Team Bride’ kandi ready to encounter a bride & that ended up being me! Even with that brief encounter, I can tell what a kind soul you are and how many hearts/lives you touched not just to your love ones but even to a stranger like me. Thankful to have you watch over me & my girls that night from creeps and so grateful to cross paths with you in this lifetime. Rest easy Anh 🤍

Wherever you are in the heavens above, know you were always a great friend to me. I certainly missed the times we met back at CSUF between VSA and JAC. I miss the times we used to party up at cons. I certainly miss the times sometimes catching you randomly at events too and catching up. It hurts that not only did you leave us, but the fact I'm halfway around the world and couldn't be there to say goodbye to you in person. 

Know your legacy remains with all of us from those days. I'm gonna miss you, but I'll always keep you in prayer.

I met Tommy in 2015 during my freshman year in JCC. You would think that seeing the people in pictures are supposed to help you remember who you spent your life with. I don't remember many people in the pictures but strangely enough I remember the man behind the camera, and all of them were taken by Tommy. We reunited last school year for my final semesters of undergrad while he was finishing his MBA, and at several anime conventions like Sugoi Saturday and Anime Impulse. I thought friends from back then wouldn't remember me, but he recognized me immediately and gave me a hug. After that, he never failed to say hello to me again. Tommy makes everyone he interacts with feel so seen and heard. It's evident how strong of a presence Tommy had based on how much I remember him in the few moments. Tommy, you were such a bright, loving soul. I honor your legacy by being brave to tell people kind words and how much I love the people in my life. You are so well loved and will be truly missed. Rest in peace, friend.

Tommy was always kind and caring. Anyone I introduced him to wanted to be his friend too, this was when we got boba in cha20 when businesses were opening back up.

A silly photo I found, I’m glad to have had shared fun & laughs with you Tommy. This was from 2018, when we were on an ACS (Association of Chinese Students Club) Big Bear trip. Tommy was a great friend to hang out with, always checking in on people if they were doing alright. & he was one of the easiest person to talk to on the trip, very easygoing & never made you feel left out.

I remember it was just like yesterday meeting you at a music festival. I met you at Dreamstate 2022 and you were a very friendly individual. Thank you for including me in the group at various music concert events like at the Audien Event in 2023. My last memory was seeing you at Lost in Dreams in July 2024. You are beautiful person inside and outside. I am glad our trails cross paths during the journey in living.  I know we will see each other again soon. This is not a good bye, but, a see you a later!

I was introduced to many of the people I hang out with today by Tommy. I’m thankful for him bringing us together.

You and Alice were sucha cute couple. I thought you guys were together for 5+ years. You guys were perfect together and complimented each other so well. The way you guys looked into each others eyes, I knew you guys would end up getting married. You guys are definitely couple goals! I was so excited that we all had the same Illenium jersey and wanted a picture to capture the moment. But you gave us the biggest hug and you made the moment even better. I hope you know that the love you give off was so genuine that everyone who meets you can tell. I wish we got to hang out more but I’ll always cherish the memories we did make because you guys made that rave unforgettable. You guys made me want to rave again. Thank you for being a beacon of light! We’re going to miss you.

How we met was crazy and it was at the end of the rave. When everyone was lining up and waiting for the shuttle to go home, you reached out and gave me a sprout. We went back and forth flexing our Rave survival packs. But in the end you won, it was below 40 degrees and you gave us an emergency blanket. If it wasn’t for you, we woulda got sick. Thank you for saving us Rave Dad! You guys made me want to rave again and I was really looking forward to it too…. I’m grateful we met because you gave me hope again that PLUR still existed.

Thank you for being a kind spirit who connected everybody and brought everybody together. To be honest, Viv and I probably wouldn’t have gotten together without you, so I’ll always be grateful to you for that. I will make sure to carry the values that you’ve taught me throughout the rest of my life.

Tommy and I met at Anime Expo in 2022. It was my first anime expo after a 5 year hiatus. I joined the AX beer garden volunteer crew, in hopes to make some meaningful connections and meet new people. I’m glad I went otherwise I wouldn’t have met Tommy through mutual friends at the beer garden. My first impression of him was how dorky he was. He seemed very genuine and a little silly, so I agreed to give him my Instagram. Can’t thank our friends enough for introducing us.

I lovingly referred to Tommy as "my dad", since my actual father also has his same name, Thomas, or "Tommy" Trinh.

Tommy is one of my few friends who shares the same last name I also have, "Trinh." He will always be special to me for having the same familial name we share together. 

It was also funny to me to see Tommy's name show up in "Suggested Friends" on Facebook for almost 2 years before I officially met him in person and shared some great memories from there on. 

My fondest memory was him welcoming me to his home for the first time, where I met his mother and shared a meal with him and our good friend, Jessie Tran who introduced us together. I believe this was after Ronin Expo on August 13th, 2022 and I posted photos of that here.

That day, we had a fun conversation about raves and safety about avoiding harmful drug use. Tommy always safely partied with his rave fam and friends. 🙏🙏

In honor of Tommy as a small, online memorial of his life, I left a special paid comment on YouTube, called a SuperChat, during Vtuber/Streamer Mint Fantome's "Un-Metal" livestream for him on September 06, 2024 at 8:49pm on the link below. 🤘

The streamer Mint Fantome announced the memory, formally. The livestream chat, all saluted emojis in his honor.

Not only did he like raves, but he really loved airsofting and tactical gear. I felt it was an appropriate memory for him in a badass, but silly action-war game with a cute anime girl livestreaming, which I know he would've loved to see.😌

I only wish we could've had a single chance to play an airsoft game together before he passed away in his sleep, peacefully. 🙏

On the very hot and humid occasion of this picture, Tommy was always courteous to help fan the three of us, me, Jesus and Jessie. The weather was over 100 degrees on that brutal summer day.

I still vividly remember how much Tommy's fan saved me in that community center's heat. The air conditioning was not enough to cool down the hundreds of people crowded in that small space. It didn't help we all had to wear warm masks on the last days of the Covid-19 pandemic.

If it wasn't for Tommy, I would have been even more soaked in my frilly wig and sweat-ridden costume. I still don't know why we had ramen on such a boiling day after this photo, but I'm glad to recollect this moment very well because Tommy was there, to keep things cool.

In this photo, Tommy swings by my suite at the Residence Inn with Gabe, Kevin, Sam and Chet, getting a few shots and bottles in our bellies during Anime Expo 2022.

This was the first time I properly partied and shared a shot (both alcoholic & picture) with our boy, Tommy. We pre-gamed at the Residence Inn Suite, comfortably and luxuriously.

It's endearing to remember the fun adventure we shared behind this specific photo at the suite. Shortly after this moment, we then took another picture at the Westin pool deck party together, which I also posted here, now in his memorial.

It's a fond and funny memory to me, having a before-and-after shot with you, Tommy. (Both alcoholic and photo-wise! Joke #2)

I'm deeply saddened, but also very grateful, to write this memory in honor of Tommy's personal AX adventure with me. 

We love you brother. I hope your spirit lives on, raving and partying, wherever you are in the afterlife. I'll have more spirits (alcoholic and friend-wise Joke #3), to cheers to your name, Tommy Trinh!

At this time, Tommy and I (in the silly cosplay wig), went together to the Westin Bounaventure pool deck party after we pre-gamed at the Residence Inn Suite in downtown Los Angeles, during Anime Expo 2022.

We travelled in one of the AX shuttles together, adventured up the Westin hotel to the 4th floor, and met up with our good friends Jaime, LJ, and Dug (funnily blocked), who posed for this photo. 

I may not entirely remember this grand time together accurately (for good reason haha!) but this will always be one of the craziest summer parties in all of LA, that we buddies gladly got to share, with Tommy.

Dear Tommy,

You were always around to help others, and your presence became such a mainstay in so many communities. We always ran into each other unexpectedly at gaming & anime events, and now it feels strange to know that we won't be able to exchange head nods of recognition whenever we see each other anymore.  Your passion for photography and constant effort helped preserve so many moments for people - myself included. Thank you for all the memories, Tommy. Rest in peace.

Tommy was there for many of my greatest accomplishments. He caputred my graduation from CSUF, he photographed for Titancon and Anime Club, he was there at all of the anime expos and events I organized and worked at too. Camera always ready to shoot. I guess he was saving all of these memories for us, for the day he'd be gone, for these days. Thank you Tommy. You were a good friend and I will miss you. I wish we could have spent more time together.  I wish I knew your time was short. I wish I could have said goodbye and said thanks for the memories you saved for me with your photographs.  I'll never get to repay you now.

As an amateur photographer, I always looked up to Tommy. He had a passion I envied. He always had his camera with him. Ready to shoot at a moments notice, and he always got my good side too. I know he's is looking down on us now from above now. I wish I took more photos of him, and with him. Now I only have the photos he took of me to share

I would always run into Tommy during mutual friend trips and events. I'd go to Vegas and find him partying in the room with us. "Yo Tommy! How did u get here?!? I didn't know you were coming out too!" And we'd laugh about not realizing we got invited to the same party by different friends. He would always hype us up for the group photo and get us all smiling and celebrating.

Tommy was usually behind the Camera. He was a shutter bug and loved to capture and share joy. I realize now I don't have many photos with him since he was always the one taking them. He always got a big smile out us, with his smile behind the lense.

Tommy would always volunteer to help us, no tasks was too small, and no job was too hard. He was there for his freinds and helped us build an amazing community.

I extend my deepest condolences to Tommy Trinh. We first met each other in the university. I saw he was active in the anime community. He was about to finish graduate school, but the time had moved to a different direction. I wish I can spend time with him in the glory days. Unfortunately, it is a difficult time to see him go. My prayers go to Tommy and his family.

The first time I met Tommy was through my other friend, Linda. A while back, there were a couple of times I went to music events solo, and then Tommy found me introduced me to his other friends, yet more to meet. He was very welcoming, had that vibrant energy, and always took care of us. We even had a meaningful conversation about life, and said to enjoy the moment. I am grateful that we are part of each other’s lives, and want to thank him for being an awesome friend. I will cherish the memories and fun times that we had.Sending out prayers and condolences to Alice, family, and friends of Tommy. 

You will forever be missed, and always be in our hearts 🙏🏼

Tommy was an amazing friend who always put others first. From fanning the rave fam at raves, to having deep conversations about life, he made sure his loved ones were cared for. He touched the lives of so many people and will be greatly missed.

We would see each here and there but glad I got to see him for a little when we had time. Thank you Tommy for being in everyone life. I was so shocked to find out Tommy passed away on facebook. My fiancé and I met Tommy during a music concert earlier last year. My fiancé and I came alone and met Tommy early in the night, who then graciously adopted us into his group and made us feel as if we were not only apart of the group, but as if we were his close friends. During the music concert, he even went above and beyond to make sure his group, including us, were always taken care of by checking up on us to see if we were okay, fanning us in the hot crowd, and continuously showing us the true meaning of PLUR by even offering us bracelets. In the little time we knew him, it was so evident that he had the biggest heart for anyone and everyone,  and I wish we had more time with him. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

I met Tommy in person for the first time this past year on a music cruise that Alice had invited him to and he was very polite, warm and welcoming into our small niche group we had formed since our first adventure in 2020! He was very supportive and loving every time I crossed paths with them both on the cruise. You will be missed and remembered by all those you have come into contact with Tommy! May you rest in a calming place. 🙏🏻

Grateful I got to know Tommy for as long as I did. He found me and my boyfriend sitting in the back of the Chainsmokers concert in August 2023 and invited us to join him in dancing.  Tommy made us feel welcomed and included.  After that night, we found Tommy at each event we could, because if he was there, then we felt warmth.   

Thank you Tommy for being a community leader and inviting us into your fold.

I remember meeting Tommy in college many years ago. Although we never had personal heart to heart conversations, he would always make an effort to say hello to me at JCC club meetings. He took many wonderful pictures of my friends and I at all the events and socials. Even though we lost touch after I had to leave JCC for personal reasons, I am forever thankful that Tommy was part of my first 2 years of college. Rest easy my friend, you will be deeply missed.

I met Tommy while we both worked at IKEA and remember discussing school, work, anime, and food spots. Tommy was genuinely kind, caring, passionate, and dedicated. To his family, fiancé, and close friends, I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the pain you are feeling right now and I know words are not enough to ease your grief. Please know that he left an impact to those were blessed enough to get to know him, including me, and that his memories will live on.

Hey Tommy, I know we weren’t super close, but of the times I met you, I could tell you were a sincere, down-to-earth guy who cared a lot about Alice. I wish we got to have more conversations about getting through life as fellow Cancers. I’m thankful to have known you and please know that you have made a positive impact on my life. I met Tommy in college about 8 years ago. We bonded over photography, anime, and did a bit of studying together. He was always such a genuine, light hearted, passionate guy and I wish I spent more time with him. We would connect once in a while and have the one off chat here and there, but I regret not taking action and building that relationship more. You’ve captured some of the happiest moments for a lot of those around you. Rest in peace sir, you’ve touched a lot of lives and are unforgettable.

You were one of the nicest and welcoming persons I've ever met at ACS and VSA. I remember talking to you about photography,  classes, and even what anime shows that was trending at the time. I remember seeing at anime events and realizing how often and random you show up in my life. You even showed up to support my family's event (I know the chicken wasn't that good). Fast forward a few years later, we're going to music festivals and sharing drinks with so many of our mutual friends, and looking forward to what life has to offer.

Gunna miss ya buddy. I met Tommy 16 years ago at church college night. He was the only one that could beat me at street fighter. Thru the years we kept in touch & always met at Cons. If I had an extra pass, I'd share with him & vice versa. He was a bright, kind & giving person. I pray that his memory will live on. Tommy was a great friend to me. He made me feel safe everywhere we went. He was always so positive and caring towards everyone of his friends and always made everyone feel included.
