Mr. Alfred Charles Coppola

Alfred Charles, 80 of River Vale, NJ on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Beloved husband of Ginny (nee Nork) Coppola. Devoted father of Jeff Coppola, Sandra Coppola and the late Joel Coppola. Dear brother of Laurel Van Sandt. Loving step father of Wendy Raupers and Nancy Sansone. Adored grandfather of Samantha, Emma, Dana, Jack and Danny.

Al was a graduate of Seton Hall University where he received his B.S. degree and also a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology where he received his M.S. degree in engineering. In 1958, he began his career at Okonite as an industrial engineer. In 1968 he was appointed V.P. of manufacturing, in 1977 he was appointed Executive V.P. and Director, and in 1992 he was appointed President and C.O.O. Al retired on December 31, 2013 after 56 years of service.

Al will long be remembered for his sharp wit, uncanny sense of humor and endless generosity. He was one of a kind. In addition to spending time with his adored children and grandchildren, Al loved congregating with his buddies. A perfect weekend day was a round of golf, a smooth scotch, a good cigar and a good game of Gin rummy. He was a wealth of trivia knowledge on topics ranging from music and old movies to sports to history. Al was a charismatic man whose presence invigorated a room. He will be forever missed by his family, friends and colleagues from East to West. Nobody will feel the loss more than his beloved wife. Al and Ginny spent over 30 years together. After a day at his beloved Okonite, Al appreciated nothing more than sharing a home cooked dinner, preferably pasta, and relaxing with his wife.

The family will receive their friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Monday, 3-8PM. Funeral Liturgy at St. Pius X Church, Old Tappan, NJ on Tuesday at 10:30. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 would be appreciated.
