Mrs. Alice Jean Burton

Alice "Jean" Burton, 91 of Hillsdale, NJ passed away December 22, 2023. Known to most as Jean, she was born on September 17, 1932. She is the youngest daughter of Edward and Ethel M. Utter of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. After graduating from Delavan High School she was employed as a secretary for the Girl Scouts of America and as a ballroom dance instructor. In October of 1954 she married Richard A. Burton of Queens, New York. For over 55 years, until his death in 2010, they resided in Hillsdale with their two sons Richard Jr. and Stephen A. Jean was a devoted, loving, compassionate mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her beautiful smile and caring disposition will be missed deeply by her sons Stephen A. Burton & Richard A. Burton Jr., her niece Lisa Jean Fishback, her two grandchildren Troy Burton and Courtney Schick, and her 6 great-grandchildren. Jean was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church where she participated with the altar guild. Her passions included participating in the Audubon Society, bowling, and the Green Bay Packers. Jean was preceded by her husband Richard Burton, her sister June Utter Scheiby, and her three brothers Horace, Everette, and Gaylord Utter. Services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Westwood NJ on Saturday, January 27 at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Jackson, NJ.
