Anne (nee Mangano) Pellegrino, 102 years old, of Fair Lawn, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, just 25 days shy of her 103 birthday.
Born on October 1, 1922, in Passaic, NJ. Anne was the beloved daughter of the late Frances and Frank Mangano. A proud first-generation Italian American, she grew up in a loving and lively home as one of nine children, all of whom predeceased her.
Anne married the late Matthew Pellegrino, with whom she shared many years of devotion and family traditions. Together they built a life rooted in hard work and the simple joys of good food and family.
A true artisan in the kitchen and beyond, Anne was known for her talents as a baker, cook, and seamstress, specializing in dresses. Her baking earned her several contest ribbons and the admiration of all who were lucky enough to taste her creations. She often joked that her secret to longevity was simple: “Put garlic and onion in every recipe.”
Anne spent most of her early life in Garfield before becoming a cherished resident of Fair Lawn for 62 years, where she raised her four daughters Marie Gugger (Jeff, deceased), Lorraine Pellegrino, Carole Saverino (Bill), and Brenda DiVito (predeceased) (John)
She is survived by her loving family, including her nine grandchildren Amy, Susan, Nora, Billy, Brian, Brad, Kyle, Allison, and Maggie, and 11 great-grandchildren all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Anne’s legacy will be remembered in every recipe passed down, every dress carefully stitched, and every family story lovingly retold.
The family will honor Anne with a Catholic Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Township of Washington remembering all that she accomplished in her 102 years. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Matthew at St. Mary's Cemetery in Saddle Brook.
