Betty Theresa Karlsen

Betty Theresa Karlsen, 89 years of age, of the Township of Washington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, John Karlsen. Betty volunteered at Englewood Hospital for over 50 years, managing a craft and activity cart for patients. Her special project was making stuffed bears that were given to children to comfort them when they were in the emergency room. She was a long time member, Vice President, and Social Director of a local branch of the Sons of Norway. Betty is survived by her loving niece, Valerie Lenze, nephews John Thomas, Jr. and Robert Thomas (Linda), a grandniece, a grandnephew and several great grand nieces and nephews. A service celebrating Betty’s life, will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. The interment will follow at Marcella Union Cemetery, Rockaway, NJ. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory, may be made to, Englewood Hospital or a charity of their choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Becker Funeral Home.
