Brian Marshall

MARSHALL, Brian, (74), of Upper Saddle River, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025. Brian is survived by his beloved wife, Irena, and his children, Elyse Marshall Pfeiffer and her husband, Josef Pfeiffer; and Neil Marshall, and his partner, Sean Kelly.

Brian came to the United States from his hometown of London as a young man in his twenties, beginning work in New York City where he met his future wife, Irena. They moved to Upper Saddle River in 1980, where they raised Elyse and Neil. As Project Manager at Guardian Life Insurance, Brian was remembered by his colleagues as someone who never expected anything in return for the help and support he provided, and for the excellent cups of coffee he made by hand.

In his free time, Brian was an avid reader, a passion that he passed on to his daughter, Elyse, currently VP and Executive Director of Publicity at Penguin Young Readers. He also loved music, both playing it and listening to it, and shared this hobby with the whole family, including when he took his wife and daughter to their first concert: Pink Floyd’s “The Wall,” and when he and his son-in-law Josef went to see one of his all-time favorite bands, The Who, the last concert he attended. Brian and Irena introduced their children to the arts from an early age, taking them to museums, theatre, film, and ballet. This foundation started Neil on his path to becoming a professional ballet dancer. One of the joys that Brian shared with his wife is the many pets that they opened their home to over the years, always looking after those in need.

Cremation will be held privately and a celebration of life will be announced.
