Carole Fricke

Mahwah, New Jersey — Carole Garcia Fricke, 1937 to 2015. Carole was born April 21, 1937 in New York, New York to Thomas and Mary Garcia. Carole graduated from Teaneck High School in 1955 and Patterson State Teachers College in 1959.

Carole taught fifth grade in Suffield, Connecticut from 1973 to 1993. She served as the team lead for many years as well as being an active member of the Suffield Education Association. Though she spent many of her adult years raising her family in Suffield, Connecticut, her Teaneck friends remained her closest and she returned to her roots in Bergen County in 1997.

Carole spent her retirement years traveling the world with friends and family. Her passion was as much about planning the trip as it was taking it. Whether it was at home or abroad, Carole immersed herself in the history and culture of each destination.

Survivors include her longtime companion Joseph Naas, sisters Dorothy Donohue and Janet Schmitz, and her children Linda Dres, Russell (Liz) Fricke and Craig (Gina) Fricke. Known lovingly as Mom-Moms by her seven grandchildren Abigail, Bennett, Thomas, Madeleine, Grace, Taylor, and Dylan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. A private family burial and memorial celebration is planned for December 5, 2015 in Westwood, New Jersey.
