

Guillemain, Claude, 81, of Montvale, a truly devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017. Claude was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, mother Adrienne, and father Francois. Born in France and raised in Guttenberg and Union City, where he was fondly known to his childhood friends as "Whitey." Claude served in the U.S. Navy, and later resided in Montvale for over 50 years. For several decades, he worked as a field engineer for IBM and owned and operated an underground sprinkler business. Claude loved life, spending time with friends and family, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, cross-country skiing, fishing, playing golf, and cheering on his grandchildren as they participated in sports and other activities. In fact, he was rumored to be the Bergen County record-holder for most events ever attended by a grandfather. Husband for 53 years to Catherine and brother of Alan Guillemain and his wife Lori. Father of April Waitzel and her husband Alan; Keith Guillemain and his wife Deborah; Claudine McCarthy and her husband Christopher. Grandfather of Nicholas, Eric, Danielle, Emily Rose, and Stephanie. Also survived by many caring and loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ. A funeral service will be offered on Wednesday at 11am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 2 Fremont Ave, Park Ridge. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity in Claude’s memory.
