Cynthia Volpi

Cynthia Volpi (nee Altobello) of River Vale, NJ passed away on December 27, 2025, with her devoted daughters at her bedside. Cynthia was a New Year’s Eve baby and just missed her 91st birthday. Cynthia was all about family. It is difficult to write about her without including family members because her whole life was spent taking care of others.

Cynthia was raised in Leonia, NJ by her loving father (Dominick) and protective sister, Anita. She was loved and supported by many aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors. Her true love was her husband, Stephen. They met at 16 years old and were married for 68 years. Two daughters, Denise (Willard) and Brenda (Widman) were raised in Bergenfield. Throughout the neighborhood, they were inseparable, and many joked when they went to 7-11 together. Cynthia and Steve could be found dancing around the house, throwing New Year’s parties, and bbqs, as well having large family holidays.

Mom was noted for her baking skills - especially her cream puffs. She was always baking for her friends and family and made the best cheesecake for family holidays. Cynthia was devoted to her daughters, her son-in-law Paul Widman, as well as her four grandchildren, Stephen, Lauren, Brett, and Alex.

Any donations in Cynthia’s memory to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, where she made regular donations for children with cancer, would be deeply appreciated

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2-6PM.

The funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, located at 2 Fremont Ave, Park Ridge, NJ 07656, on January 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

The committal service will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, located at 234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652.
