

David V. Lenahan, of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, born September 5, 1936, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, surrounded by his family. David is survived by his loving wife Helen (Armstrong) of 65 years and their devoted children, Eileen (Stephen Matchett) Kathleen (Gary Michael) and David (Stephanie). He is also survived by his brother Donald Lenahan (MaryCarol). He is predeceased by his beloved son Lawrence, parents Alice (Sperzel) and David Lenahan and his brother Lawrence.
A proud Papa who was adored by his eight grandchildren Katherine (Robert) Kelly, Lauren Matchett, Stephen Matchett, Matthew Michael, Kristen Michael, Kevin Michael, John Lenahan, and Daniel Lenahan.
Born in The Bronx, New York, he lived in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey for 56 years.
David graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and Iona University. David had a successful career in sales at Dun & Bradstreet, where he was recognized annually with the Presidential Citation award. Always interested in the stock market, he began an investing career upon retiring from Dun & Bradstreet at Melhado, Flynn & Associates.
Affectionately known as Dave, Bevo, Daddy, he lit up every room he entered. Dave met Helen at the basketball playground when he was Director of Recreation as a college student and she in high school. It was true love at first sight. During their wonderful years of marriage, they were an inseparable pair.
Dave will be remembered for his smile and fun-loving sense of life, his sincere interest in everyone he met, his active lifestyle, faith and positive attitude. He absolutely loved his family and friends, and they adored him. Dave always had a story to tell and made connections with everyone.
His love of travel, sports, golf, and horseracing were infectious. One of his favorite places was Saratoga, New York, where he spent many summers during the annual racing season and enjoyed celebrating in the winner’s circle. He cherished many trips to Ireland with family and friends. He absolutely loved summers in the Hamptons and treasured holidays there.
Golf was truly part of the fabric of his life. He loved the friendships and camaraderie built during and after a round. A proud golf achievement was a Hole in One at Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda on a trip to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. An avid sports fan, he loved cheering on the New York Giants, the New York Yankees and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. As a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful grandfather, uncle, and friend Dave touched so many lives, and he will live in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. A Mass celebrating David's life and faith will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 2 Fremont Avenue, Park Ridge, NJ. The Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Road, Airmont, NY.
