Donald E. Fischer

Beloved husband of Jean Fischer for 54 years. Devoted father of Don and his wife Maureen of Campbell Hall, NY and Jonathan and his wife Jennifer of Harrington Park, NJ. Dear older brother of Lynne Fischer of New Milford, NJ. Loving grandfather to Brandon, Michael, Paige, Matthew, and Katherine. Proud uncle of Michael Vento and Camille Vento O’Connor.

Born in Mt Vernon, NY to the late Edward and Dorothy, moved to New Milford in 1949 and graduated from Hackensack High School in 1958. Married to Jean on June 1, 1968, and moved to River Vale where he raised his family. Donald worked for Red Star Trucking for over 40 years and had an accomplished career driving millions of safe miles until he retired 20 years ago.

Donald enjoyed a life centered around family, friends, laughter, and love. Over the years he took extreme joy in spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren. His kindness, sense of humor, compassion, and everlasting love will be missed, but never forgotten.

The family welcomes those who wish to share fond memories and expressions of sympathy on Thursday, January 19, 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood. A Mass celebrating Donald’s life will be held on Friday, January 20th, 1pm at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church in Harrington Park, NJ. The interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
