Frank is survived by his wife Ginny, son Steve and daughter-in-law Doriane, son Danny and daughter-in-law Gina and four grandchildren - Michael, Amanda, Alyssa and Gianna.
Frank was born on Nov. 2, 1929 in NYC. He graduated from The Pratt Institute and was honored with the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service in the Korean War by The United States Army. He married the love of his life on June 1, 1958. He and Ginny raised their boys in the Bronx until moving to Woodcliff Lake, NJ in January 1976. Frank was an accomplished mechanical engineer and designer for Grumman Aircraft, designing their F-14 Tomcat fighter plane, while later starting his own consultancy in the powder metal industry. He was also very creative and a talented artist rendering portraits of his family. He was a man who did not stay still - playing handball in the Bronx, tinkering or fixing things to building an extraordinary wine cellar with bricks he and his son gathered. But above all, the most important thing to Frank DiFlora was family. Each Sunday, the family gathered for dinner. He would carefully select the wine for the meal and of course, each meal started with pasta. What made Frank such an extraordinary man was his gentle but strong presence. He listened and truly cared. He always wanted to know more about you instead of talking about himself. He was the patriarch of the family, the “go-to guy”. When faced with a dilemma, family and friends would find themselves saying “what would Frank suggest?”, I’ll ask Frank, or “Frank, what do you think about this?” And lastly, his relentless dedication to his wife Ginny, in her recent and current times of need, was nothing short of remarkable. Our beacon of light has now dimmed with Dad’s passing, yet his legacy will never leave us all. While his mortal presence is no longer, his spirit and voice are constantly surrounding us, and will continue to guide our family in caring for our Mom and Grandma and, all the while, bringing warm smiles to our faces. We love you forever Dad.
Frank will be memorialized on Saturday Dec 28, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at Christ the King Cemetery, 980 Huron Rd, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited back to the family residence after the burial.
