George D. Devine

DEVINE, George Donald “Don” of Twp. of Washington, NJ on Tuesday March 26, 2013. Don was born in Mt. Ephraim, NJ to James and Gertrude (Checkley) Devine. He served in the United States Coast Guard aboard the USCG Cutter Campbell (WPG-32). He retired after 36 years from the New York Telephone Co. Don was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Twp. of Washington, NJ where he created and maintained their website. He was a member of the Golden Seniors of Twp. of Washington, NJ, the Association of BellTel Retirees and the Genealogical Society of Bergen County, NJ. He is predeceased by his parents, his twin brothers Roy and Ray and his sister Shirley. He is survived by his wife June, his son Don and his wife Susannah, his granddaughter Danielle and her husband Robbie, and his grandson Devin. Don loved writing and has left his family a journal filled with beautiful memories of his childhood, his time in the service, meeting June and marrying her, the years watching his son grow up into the splendid man he is today and the times spent with his grandchildren for whom he has unbounded love. Don was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather. He had the skill, perseverance and patience to fix just about anything. His great sense of humor, exuberant confidence, optimism and love of music live on. We love him and will miss him. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2-4 and 6:30-9 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Wednesday, April 3rd, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Twp.of Washington, NJ. Entombment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, 1317 King St. Alexandria, VA. 22314.
