her family on May 5, 2023. Helen was born on June 13,1933 in Masbeth Queens, NY to

Margaret and Joseph Murphy, and later moved with her family to Staten Island. Helen attended

New Dorp High School where she met her high school sweetheart and love of her life John.

Helen and John married and shared almost 70 years of wonderful marriage. They later moved

to Philadelphia where all three of their children were born and then to New Jersey where they

spent over 30 years. Helen spent time working in Chase Manhattan Bank, Hamrah’s Clothing

Store, and Pem Kay Furniture co. She had a love for family, cooking, holiday traditions,

decorating, and singing.

Helen is survived by her husband John, son John and wife Joanne of Batavia, Illinois, Daughter

Beth and husband Chris of Warwick, NY and son Joseph and Donna of Deerfield Beach, Fl;

grandchildren Joseph, Megan(Jeff), Christopher(Kalli), Jessica, Jennifer, and Jarod and great

grand child Henry. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth of Staten Island and many

nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph Murphy, and James Murphy.

The family will receive their relatives and friends on Monday, May 8 from 7pm to 9pm at Becker

Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. A mass celebrating Helen’s life and

faith will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 10:00 am at Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 29

Jefferson St. Emerson, NJ. The interment will follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond

Rd., Staten Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s
