Jeffrey Costas Apostle, of Washington Township, New Jersey, passed away on January 13, 2026, just shy of his 58th birthday. Born on January 23, 1968, in Closter, Jeff was the always-rambunctious son of Mary Costas Apostle and the late George John Apostle.
Military Service
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Jeff served from 1988 - 1994 with distinction. His service included deployments during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm with the 2nd Marine Division. Known for his strength and commitment, Apostle’s career was defined by discipline and unwavering loyalty to his fellow Marines. Jeff’s greatest personal accomplishment during his service were the lives he saved as a crew chief on helicopters, with his Medevac team.
A Career of Daring and Dedication
Jeff’s sense of daring and fearlessness extended into his multi-decade career as a lineman for PSE&G. He took great pride in his work, which often required the same courage and mental toughness he honed in the Marines. He formed great bonds with his lineman buddies, as he did with his fellow Marines. One of his proudest career achievements was the months he spent in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina, where he worked tirelessly to help rebuild the electrical systems and restore hope to the region.
A Spirit of Adventure and Wit
Jeff was most at home on the open road on his Harley Road Glide, cherishing the camaraderie of his fellow trailblazers, the Jersey Boys, on many road trips, most notably to the Badlands. To his pals, he was known as ¨The Greek.¨
They loved him for his great sense of humor, always having a colorful story to share, bringing a sense of fun to every gathering. His grit and independence were hallmarks of his character, evident to all who traveled alongside him.
Family and Friends
Jeff was a devoted father who adored his children, Lia and Nico. He talked about them often and cared for them always. Being a dad was the most important thing to Jeff. It was always the first thing he said about himself in his often- quoted phrase ‘Father. Friend. Marine. No Doubt.’ Jeff was a source of endless laughter to his family, always ready to share a naughty joke or funny story. In addition to his children and his mother, Mary, he is survived by his sister, Lisa Coleman (and husband, Michael), his brother, John (and wife, Barbara) and Uncle Jim Apostolakis (and wife, Diane). He was the always-irreverent uncle of Charlie, Annie, GJ, and Mary Jane. To his inner circle, Jeff was a "dear and trusted friend"—a man who lived life on his own terms.
